COSTI provides educational, social and employment services to help all immigrants in the greater Toronto area attain self-sufficiency in Canadian society. COSTI, founded by the Italian Canadian community to meet a shortage of services for immigrants in the post war era, is today a multicultural agency that works with all immigrant communities. With over 130 staff members who together speak more than 30 languages, COSTI provides services to a diverse client base of 20,000 individuals annually and is an integral partner in the program. The program rents COSTI's computer facilities and children of COSTI client families are referred to the program. COSTI refers approximately 20 students per year. Additionally, COSTI provides the training site for the program.

 

 

Jewish Immigrant Aid Service (JIAS) is the oldest charitable not-for-profit settlement organization in Canada. Founded on August 30 th , 1922, JIAS has assisted Russian Jews escaping pogroms, Holocaust survivors, Bosnian refugees, and a multitude of other Jews from around the world. They promote long-term integration of newcomers into local Jewish communities by building partnerships between immigrants, government, charitable foundations, employers, service providers and volunteers. JIAS refers approximately 20 students a year to our program.

 

Toronto District School Board refers students from Regent Park and neighboring communities as an effort to help the students struggling to keep focused in school. They refer approximately 20 students per year. Additionally, we recruit our volunteer mentors from over ten TDSB schools.

 

The Pathways to Education Program- Regent Park Community Health Centre - The Pathways to Education Program's mission is to break the cycle of poverty and unemployment in Regent Park by getting kids to high school, keeping kids in high school and inspiring them to move on to post-secondary programs The Pathways to Education Program provides an innovative blend of supports: Educational Supports (tutoring); Social Supports (group mentoring); Financial Supports in the way of TTC tickets earned through attendance at school, bursary money held in trust until graduation, and Staff Support. Pathways students volunteer in the program as mentors.

 

Jewish Family & Child Service (JF &CS), a not-for-profit agency working from five locations within the GTA, is comprised of 100 staff, including social workers, child care workers, family life educators, therapists, counselors, foster parents and 900 devoted volunteers. It has been servicing the emotional, social and physical needs of Toronto's Jewish community for over 125 years with their services falling into three areas: Child and Youth Services; Family and Rehabilitation Services; and Community Services. JF & CS refers approximately 20 students a year to our program.
